Reviews: Hollow City, The Second Novel of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children

UnknownAs I promised here is the review for Hollow City, The Second Novel of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, written by Ransom Riggs. In the first novel Jacob finds that his Grandpa had some dark secrets from his past as well as some peculiar friends who some people didn’t know exist. Now these peculiar children become friends of Jacob’s because like his grandpa, he is one of them too.

Warning: If you have not read the first book this review will give some spoilers to the end. Plus you will read this and think what the heck is she talking about?

This second novel picks up where Miss Peregrines was almost kidnapped by the wights as her bird form but the children were quick enough to save her. The wights had destroyed their safe home through their loop. After Jacob leaves life, as he knows it to help these new peculiar friends, they find that they have to travel across the ocean to London to save Miss Peregrine because she is now somehow trapped in her bird form and cannot change back. They need the last known ymbrynes, Miss Wren, who was not taken by the wights to help save her. She only has three days until it is permanent. How will they ever get to London without the wights, and the Hollows that killed his Grandpa ever finding them?

Through their journey they will meet other peculiar humans and animals alike, go through time loops, and come out to Jacobs present at one point. If you read the first, you must read the second. I cannot wait for the third novel. I will tell you, this one left you on one heck of a cliffhanger!!!
