For those that have been following my blog, you might think after reading last weeks review and this one that I have a theme going here. No, I have just accidentally come across two books with magic spells and witches in the storylines. This week’s book is another J.D. Robb, Ceremony In Death. Eve Dallas attends the funeral of a fellow officer, Frank Wijinski that everyone looks up to. However this is a suspicious death that must be investigated secretly. Who is best for the job other than Dallas herself? It looks as though Frank was being tracked for illegal drugs that did not seem right for a man of his character. During her behind the scene investigation, Dallas finds Frank’s granddaughter had gotten herself caught up with a group of Wiccans as well as those caught up with black magic.
This story has Eve Dallas again reminded of her past and having to come to new emotions of dealing with it. Roarke, her husband, secretly works with her on this case and is there to protect her when she needs it the most. Aiding her with the use of his high tech gadgets to get background information on suspicious suspects, to being her emotional support when she goes head to head with fellow officer and trusted friend that she cannot afford to trust during her investigation. (We all need a Roarke in our life. J)
So far this is my favorite of the In Death series. Then again it is only the fifth. J Of course this one was predictable and did not end with a big surprise. (I saw it coming.) I still enjoyed reading it and will get my hands on the next one to find out what case Dallas will have to solve next.
