J. D Robb, aka Nora Roberts’ In Death series is so far a great read. I started at the beginning with Naked In Death, where the main character, Eve Dallas, a Lieutenant with the New York Police Department but in the future, solving crimes that were committed with handguns that are no longer available unless you are a collector. In the future guns were outlawed because of the death rate related to them. Eve is a strong woman with many childhood demons that come up during her sleepless nights.  To make matters worse, she has a love interest, Roarke who turns out to be one of the suspects in her case. Can she separate the two or will he come in between her and her job? Or will the job come in between them? Suspense, suspense, suspense!

I will say Roarke is one of those characters you can fall in love with. He is rich and owns just about every company known to the storyline, which leaves his name coming up a lot in Eve’s cases. He as well has his own past growing up in Dublin Ireland that left him not always following the law. Though he now claims he is a law-abiding citizen.  He shocks himself falling for a detective and tries to figure out why she is so hard to read.

Okay, I will not give anymore away, but if you think this is a book that you might like then get book one and two and be ready to put life on hold. There are about thirty some in this series. Thank God for Spring Break!

For the sci-fi in me, this book fills my need of adventure with just enough romance and the mystery solving that I seek. I finished the first one in two days and bought the second one without hesitation. (My review on that one at a later date. Still reading.)
